The team at Wimbledon Greyhond Welfare say:

Brian is a beautiful, big black boy. We call him ‘Backward Brian’ here at the kennels because his favourite trick is walking backwards up the range as he goes out into the paddocks. For all his size he is a gentle giant, and doesn’t use his weight to get his own way. His beautiful nature has made him a great favourite with our dog walkers. He passed the spaniel test, so should be fine with other breeds of dog if socialised carefully. Please can someone come down and meet him, and see beyond his colour and size?.

We say:

There's a great big world outside the kennels and beyond the racing track. All Brian needs is someone who will spend some time socialising him and he will reward them a hundredfold. We took him on a day away from the kennels recently and he was clearly absolutely thrilled to be out and about. He starts off a bit enthusistic on the lead but settles down after a while; even lies down quietly beside you if you stop on a seat for a breather. He was fine with the other breeds we met though clearly very curious about them and could do with a bit more socialisation. Behaved like a true gent towards our greyhound girl Jazz, despite his reputation as a ladies man... Loved his visit to the pub for lunch and behaved really well - lay down quietly almost immediately, though very keen indeed to share the cold meat platter (he'll be a shocking counter-surfer given half a chance!). He seems a bit nervous in the car initially but if you sit with him in the back seat he will soon be lying with his head on your knee, drooling happily. Brian has the makings of a great dog: he will need experienced owners who are willing to invest time showing him the way, but with a bit of love and attention he will blossom and thrive.
